Loading... Please wait...The Twist 'n Treat is a treat dispenser. Made from a rubber like material, the two halves can be unscrewed to fill the toy and clean it. Fill the Busy Buddy Twist 'n Treat with treats, peanut butter, cheese bits, whatever food your dog desires. It's great for meals, too. Use it like a food bowl, only more fun. Fill the toy with your dog's kibble or canned food and watch them enjoy working for their dinner. (Soft treats will not squeeze out like toothpaste, your dog has to go in with a tongue, that's the Busy part.) Then screw it down all the way so just the dispensing hole is open or leave it unscrewed a little further to make it easier for your dog to get at the treats. You can adjust the toy to fit your dog. What a great idea!
The Twist 'n Treat is designed for maximum interactive enjoyment, that means your dog has to do something to get the food out. This toy is not indestructible, it can be chewed up. As your dog works with it, small bits of the dispenser may come off now and then, that is part of normal wear and tear. If you have an excessive chomper who would be determined to tear it apart, this is not a good choice for your dog.

"I have this Twist 'n' Treat in the large size, purchased over 4 years ago. It's survived the teeth of 3 shelties and a mouthy pomeranian/terrier mix puppy. A few puncture holes, but otherwise in great shape. Easy to clean and keeps the pups busy... can't ask for more!"
"I have the large version for my two 50lb dogs. One of them needs more than a cup of food per meal and unfortunately that is not possible with this toy. But other than that I love to feed them with it to slow them down and do some work for their food. And I like even better that it doubles as a sturdy chew toy!"

My 3yo big Lab didn't just get his treats out of this toy within 5 minutes - he'd also shredded it! That was two days ago. Unfortunately, he'd also swallowed some of those bits, because I'm still seeing little purple bits in his poop.
At the time I bought this, I didn't check the chew strength - it was only rated for middling chew strength. NOT a mistake I'm going to make EVER again, you may be sure!
On the other hand, other treat-dispensing toys (like the Premier Pet Waggle Dog Toy, Medium/Large) made by this same company, which are rated for maximum chew strength, sure do last! At least, they've lasted almost a month, which just coincidentally is how long I've had my dog. ength.
On the whole, if you have a smart dog, and/or an aggressive chewer, I'd definitely NOT recommend this toy. Mine is both smart and a major chewer, so...

Many of the pet dispensers are messy to load for the owner. This one is easy to load for the owner. My pet loves it and I can put dry food in it without it being easy to come out...you can screw the toy tightly or depending on the product you put in it, less tight.
I love that the owner can adjust the space depending on what is put in the toy. The kongs are great for the dog and I use them too but this toy is OUR favourite!
